The beach
The famous beach of Potistika, located on the Aegean side of southeast Pelion, impresses visitors with its beautiful and exotic natural scenery. The two characteristics that make it special, are the giant rocks within the sea that seem to spring up from within, dividing the coast into small and larger beaches and the long, 1km in length sandy beach with fine, golden sand. The big impressive rocks from where many dive into the crystal Aegean waters, continue and off the beach. At one of these it is said that clay comes out, and attracts many to fill their bodies and enjoy its beneficial properties.
At the other side, the lengthy beach offers plenty of space for sunbathing and relaxing to the many visitors, while it gives the opportunity for beach rackets or beach volley. Also, you have the option for some hiking following the path from Potistika that goes to Melani beach.
This virgin environment seems untouched by any human intervention. The beach is not organized at all and only features a beach bar just above the shore. Although a lifeguard is present you should be very careful when high waves rise. Access to the beach is easy as the road passes just in front of it.
The nearest village to Potistika is Xinovrysi, a village that’s only 4km away from the beach and is ideal for relaxing holiday along nature and sightseeing. Finally, in the area during the Holy Spirit, celebrated by the homonymous church, a fair is organized with live music, dances and songs.
