The beach
Melani is a large Aegean beach in southeast Pelion, located at Pantazaika settlement, very close to the village of Argalasti. Its name derives from the cobalt blue (Greek: melano) crystalline waters. Aside the gorgeous sea, it has impressive golden fine sand however it does have a rocky seabed. Also impressive are the large sets of rocks that come out from the water and which many use for diving. Such rocks, but only bigger are also dividing Melani from its neighboring beach of Potistika.
Melani is not organized so make sure you have all beach essentials before visiting. There are no shops apart from a tavern that offers exquisite seafood. Many say that this lack of tourism development is what makes Melani special. During summer it is visited by many however not as many as other cosmopolitan beaches and also note that many use it for camping.
Lastly, you can easily reach the beach if having a car. From the junction of the road Argalasti-Xinovrisi it’s only 10km away with the road heading directly to the beach.
