What you will see
The train station of Milies, still active today is the last stop within the mountain of the famous Pelion little train "Moutzouris". Although the train today operates as a tourist attraction the station dates back in 1903 and was the ending stop of the famous route Volos - Milies.
The station alone is an attraction surrounded by lush vegetation with huge plane trees dominating the scene. Start from the station’s buildings and walk alone the narrow rail tracks (60cm width, regarded as one of the narrowest tracks in Europe) you will find on an elevated area the WWII memorial dedicated to the 33 villagers who were executed by the Nazis on 4/10/1943. Right after, you will come across a stone arched bridge above a ravine that forms a waterfall along large rocks creating a magical scenery.
Walking for around 10-15 minutes you will come across the magnificent steel bridge that stands about 70m tall above the Miliotiko stream, an engineering wonder with the train tracks curving over the straight bridge.
From this point onward, if you want you can continue hiking towards Kala Nera, Ano Gatzea or even Lechonia through this scenic route admiring the great views towards the Pagasetic Gulf, or even discover the cave where the mythical centaur Chiron was said to live.
