About the village

Kalamos is a very small and beautiful seaside settlement, build in the coast of the Pagasetic Gulf. It is an ideal place for relaxing and peaceful holidays surrounded by nature, away from the city noises. However being close to Argalasti gives access to many other travel amenities, if needed.

It was named after the mispronunciation of the word Kanalos meaning canal, from the canal that is formed by the joining of the sea with a small canal. However some argue that the name origin is due to the many reeds (greek: Kalami) that grow on the edge of the river.

During your stay in the settlement, walk the streets and discover its beauty. Admire the olive grooves which the area is filled with, observe the remarkable stone houses, since the settlement among all, preserves its traditional character and walk over the small river that flows from the village. Visit also the charming little church of Agia Paraskevi and the chapels of Panagia (Virgin Mary) and Agia Triada (Holy Trinity), with the latter boasting an exciting view towards the Pagasetic Gulf.

The settlement’s beach is suitable for those who want to enjoy a quiet swim, away from the crowds in clear waters in a magnificent sandy beach. Next to Kalamos is the lovely beach Mpelian that is also quite and secluded with a beautiful sea.

Every year, on the 25th of July, the village gets crowded for the fair celebrating Agia Paraskevi, with dances, songs and live music. It is definitely a unique experience, if you visit Kalamos these days you should participate in this traditional celebration.
