About the village

Lefokastro is a calm and quiet seaside settlement in the Pagasetic Sea. It’s hidden within olive grooves and green hills, while the beaches will instantly captivate anyone found there.

Ancient and medieval findings have been discovered near the village and the ruins of a medieval castle suggest that once an old and great town existed. It is this castle that the second part of the name Lefo-Kasto=Castle derives from. Regarding the first part there is no agreement, some believe derives from the verb "lick" (Greek: glefo) , since the sea "licks" the settlement, other say its from the color white (greek: Leuko) that was the color of the castle while other believe it comes from Lefas or Lefes named after the first settlers.

During your stay, visit the ruins of the nine Byzantine churches, the arched bridge of 1891 (which is a donation by G.Georgatzis) and the fountain of 1777. The latter has two inscriptions, a Turkish with the donor’s name, Ahmet Aga and a Greek, with a carved double-headed eagle.
Swim in the villages’ beach with its distinctive golden sand and in Razi Beach and admire the Pagasetic's Gulf wonderful sunset in the evening, after your swim have some fresh octapus at the traditional taverns by the sea.

Like all places in Pelion, there is a small picturesque church, Agios Panteleimon that is celebrated with a festival on July 27.
