What you will see
The museum opened in 2005 in the main square of Lafkos at the old school building, and was founded in honor of the Lavkian artist Thanasis Fampas who was born in the village in 1922. Thanassis Fampas was one of the most important Greek painters praised in Greece and abroad. The themes of his work are focused in women with apparent expressionistic tones and symbolic types.
The museum has a collection of works from the great sculptor and painter. Within the building operates a permanent painting exhibition, while the exterior is decorated with sculptures, made out of local white Pelion marble, all donated by the artist.
Just below, in the buildings basement, operates the folklore museum along with the library of the local cultural association “I Drasi” (The Action)
