What you will see

The church of Agia Kyriaki is located in the central part of the homonymous district in the village of Zagora and is considered as one of the most important religious sites. It was built in the first decades of 1700 and, more specifically, in 1740 by the craftsman Zipaniotis from Epirus and was renovated in 1803. Regarding the architectural details, it is a three-aisled basilica, built with stones and its roof is covered with slabs. In addition, it is triune and aside from St.Kyriaki, it is also dedicated to St. Catherine and St. John the Evangelist, with murals of the three saints adorning the wall above the church entry. Previously the church was dedicated to the Assumption of Virgin Mary as noted in the iconostasis.

Inside, you can see the rich decoration and the magnificent wood carved iconostasis constructed during the years 1742-1744, while externally it surprises visitors with the unusual placement of the bell tower, located in front of the main entrance. The yard of the church consists of a paved square with beautiful tilla and cypresses trees, while nearby is the chapel of Agios Eleftherios.
