The Cathedral of Agios Georgios (St. George) in Zagora, is located in the central square of the village, in the district of the same name, which is also the patron saint. As a plate on exterior of the eastern side informs us, it was built on March 14, 1765. Founded by the Patriarch of Constantinople, Callinicus, while for its construction many villagers assisted with their donations. The architect, who supervised the construction, was the craftsman by the name Michael. The church was built in the rhythm of basilica without a dome and is triconch, carved with symbolic representations. In addition, it is triune dedicated, to the twelve Apostles, and to the Transfiguration of Jesus along with Saint George

The interior decoration is of exceptional interest, with the Temple, the pulpit and the Mogul (donation of the Lapatis brothers, princes of Moldavia originating from Zagora) made out of cypress wood and gilded. In the parish of St. George there is, also, the church of Saint Martyr Triantafyllos located next to the school of Rigas Feraios and is celebrated on August 8 with solemn vespers on the eve and divine service in the day of the celebration.
